Consultancy and Training

Our talented illustrator, Louise Gwillym worked at Llanfoist Primary School in Monmouthshire.  Here she enjoys using The Baby Birds resources with the reception class. The children are so proud to have the Books at Press illustrator as a member of staff!

The pupils of Longtown Primary School enjoyed their own version of the Royal Wedding with a role-play based on the book A Wedding Day Wish for Puddles.
Surrounded by friends and family 'Prince William' and 'Catherine' pledged their vows in the red, white and blue adorned grand marquee which took pride of place in the school grounds. Whilst The Reverend Freddie Fisher played his part in the service, Puddles and Arthur kept a careful eye on the proceedings. They particularly enjoyed the sumptuous reception - especially the cream cakes.
Amidst the excitement and celebrations, parents and children chatted with the author and enjoyed having their own personal copies of the book signed by Gill.

Oak House Nursery, Brampton Abbotts is owned and managed by Sue Marshall, founder and director of Early Vision role-play resources.  Sue is a big fan of the Puddles resources, and in this photostory the nursery children visit Brampton Abbotts church with Puddles, just prior to its permanent closure.

Puddles Ducks Day Nursery, Raglan, was one of the first nursery settings to trial our resources.  We are most grateful to Julia Rennie, owner, her team of staff and the children for their enthusiastic and encouraging response in those early days of production.  Here we see them enjoying The Tiny Ants.

Gill is a regular visitor to Staffordshire providing training for Foundation Stage and for Key Stage 1.   This photostory of Foundation Stage INSET shows delegates participating in some of the exciting activities explored during the day.

Gill visits Appletree Day Nursery to present copies of her new books in appreciation of their support in trialling the resources. Children were delighted to also receive their very own Arthur and kittens to join Puddles in the nursery.

Congratulations to Rachel Davey from Baden Powell Primary School and Rachel Speed from St. Illtyd's Primary School who were the outstanding winners of the Celebrating RE / Books at Press competition. They were presented with their winners' certificates at the Welsh Association of SACREs Celebrating RE Launch on March 2nd 2011 in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan.

Coventry Diocese teachers enjoying their EYFS training day.

It was such a lovely day that we were inspired to go outside and work with the beautiful book God’s Quiet Things.

Gill was pleased to provide workshops at the recent Lancashire Primary RE Conference: Spirited RE – Knowing Me Knowing You.  Delegates enjoyed a variety of stimulating and thought provoking workshops and were inspired by the keynote speech from Maggie Webster.

Interview with Gill Vaisey, author and owner of Books at Press.  Gill talks about her inspirational resources created especially for young children.  The Education Show provided a brilliant platform to showcase the books and activities which support Literacy and the Beliefs and Culture element of the curriculum.  The books are also proving popular with parents as children are captivated by the imaginative and engaging characters. Pembroke Nursery enjoyed the RSPB bird watch scheme and included The Baby Birds resources to reflect the beliefs and culture element of the Foundation Phase curriculum.  Their wonderful cross-curricular project is reflected in this photostory.
